- May 28, 2006, Stephen Ibaraki, (Profile), was elected by acclamation as Vice-President of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS). In May 2007, Stephen Ibaraki will automatically transition to President of CIPS and in May 2008, Stephen Ibaraki will transition to past-president serving on the executive committee of the CIPS national board. - In May 2006, Stephen Ibaraki is elected as a “founding” CIPS Fellow “granted only to a select number of individuals from the IT community—those who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of Information Technology…" Fellows can "now use the designation FCIPS." Fellows can be of any nationality or residency. The inaugural council of Fellows will make recommendations for future Fellows.

- 3 Top Honors for CIPS Board Member, Stephen Ibaraki: Lifetime Achievement Award; the Most Valuable Professional Award; and the Distinguished Fellow Award.
- Stephen Ibaraki, received official notice (certificate and letter) from Microsoft in January 2006, of his Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award.
- On December 16th, 2005, Computing Canada (CC) "formally broke the story" that Stephen Ibaraki is the recipient of the "2005 IT Leadership: Lifetime Achievement Award."
- In 2005, Stephen Ibaraki was recognized by the International Network Professional Association (NPA) to be a "Distinguished Fellow", due to his significant contributions to the IT industry and work as an outstanding, prominent, and distinguished professional in the networking industry sector (encompassing the internet, mobile computing, telecommunications, security, networking, business continuity/disaster recovery, interoperability, privacy/identity, …). Stephen is an invited founding member to the international College of Distinguished Fellows and is now serving as a Director on the NPA Distinguished Fellows Board.
